Al Haqqaniyyah Unveils State-of-the-Art Research Center for Classical Sciences

May 25, 2026

We are delighted to announce the official commissioning of the new Haqqaniyyah Research and Classical Islamic Studies Center at Al Haqqaniyyah Arabic College. This landmark project, which has been under construction for the past eighteen months, represents a monumental leap forward in our institution’s 20-year history of serving traditional Islamic education in Sri Lanka.

Bridging Heritage and Modernity

The new center is designed to serve as a bridge between classical seminary learning (Dars-e-Nizami curriculum) and contemporary academic research. Equipped with a digitized library containing over 10,000 reference works, manuscripts, and rare treaties, the center will facilitate post-graduate level research for our graduates and visiting academics.

“Sacred knowledge is a living tradition. Our goal is not simply to preserve it, but to empower scholars to articulate it effectively in response to the ethical and intellectual questions of the modern era.”
— Senior Faculty, Al Haqqaniyyah Arabic College

Key Features of the Center

  • Digitization Lab: Dedicated high-resolution scanners and indexing systems to preserve historical manuscripts and scholar notebooks.
  • Research Cubicles: Private, high-speed connected workspaces for senior students and visiting researchers.
  • Symposium Hall: A state-of-the-art presentation space hosting monthly seminars, Jumu’ah khutbah preparatory workshops, and inter-collegiate discussions.

With this center, Al Haqqaniyyah Arabic College continues to fulfill its mission of cultivating scholars of high academic caliber and deep spiritual tarbiyyah, ready to serve as spiritual guides and educators globally.
